A master graduates experience story about study process
Joining the master’s program for information technologies at the IITF in the LBTU turned out to be a smart decision on my part. The curriculum’s balanced mix of theoretical and practical teaching benefitted me a lot and was also a nice match for my preferred learning style. I was able to successfully achieve a pretty good average grade and a very good thesis grade. I feel satisfied with my journey through the curriculum. I was also able to soon apply my newly acquired skills, such as the ones from the data science and machine learning course, during my work as a scientific research engineer. I think that the curriculum fulfilled my expectations quite well. I checked out a few interesting places too, such as the Castle Island Observation Tower in Jelgava and the Victory Park Ferris Wheel in Rīga, during the free time in my schedule. I really enjoyed the greenery and the rivers as well due to my preference for natural scenery. The fact that the main building of the university is a renovated royal palace on an island was simply wonderful for me due to my interest towards historical places and archaeological sites. I met several nice individuals during my stay, which boosted my spirit when things got tough for me. It’s not possible to prepare for all possibilities, so just like for most other students, there were a few difficulties for me as well during my studies due to unexpected situations but dedicated support from the responsible faculty and staff members allowed me to overcome them and finish my studies in a punctual manner. I was able to make a few friends not only from my own department but also from other departments by spending time with others when studying in the shared classes at the university and when preparing meals in the shared kitchen at the dormitory. They too played a role in helping me overcome the issues faced by me. I think that these friends are gonna be a part of my life for a very long time even after my graduation. When my past self was preparing for his future studies in the master’s program by searching for advice online, he learnt from experienced individuals in related discussion forums that the relationships which are built by a student during the time spent at a university are as important as the degree obtained there in the end. I can understand now why this was said. The various kinds of memories made by me in Jelgava during my stay here as a student will not only stay with me forever but will also give me new reasons to keep improving myself.
